About
The CGIAR Excellence in Agronomy Initiative (EiA) aims to increase agricultural productivity, resource use efficiency, soil health, and climate adaptation at scale in prioritized farming systems in the global south. ICARDA is the lead implementing CGIAR center for the EiA initiative in the CWANA region. As part of its mandate, EiA-CWANA undertakes occasional stakeholder consultations to understand the priority areas of interventions in the irrigated agricultural systems in Egypt. This year’s consultation was done involving many important stakeholders (policymakers, scientists, and academia), building on the consultations done in the past. This event prioritized and identified key climate adaptation and sustainable intensification practices that can be immediately scaled nationally. Egypt’s national climate vision (NWFE) and National Adaptation Plan could adopt the results from this consultation. This prioritization exercise was done using a sophisticated stakeholder engagement tool called PAiCE (Prioritizing Agronomy under Changing Environment), developed under EiA in partnership between CSIRO Australia and Cornell University.
